Burnaby — The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, presided over an inspiring ceremony at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby where 47 young adults were awarded their Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Achievement Award.
Toronto, 22 June 2017- Members of the Implementation Sub-Committee, as part of the Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat and the Government of Ontario, met at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto to discuss progress on various aspects of the Agreement. This was followed by an Iftar dinner hosted by the Ismaili Council for Ontario.
Burnaby – Dr. Brett Finlay, Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies (UBC) Distinguished Professor and Senior CIFAR Fellow (Canadian Institute for Advanced Research) discussed how microbes play a central part in early childhood development, why some germs are good for our immunity and disease prevention and how to balance hygiene with microbial exposure in schools, hospitals, and at home. Providing a unique perspective on quality of life from a microbial perspective, Finlay discussed the role of microbes in human health and disease.
Burnaby – Over 200 guests gathered at the Ismaili Centre Burnaby for the Chief Scout’s Award ceremony. The award and its recipients exemplify scouting principles such as leadership, voluntary service, and the mastery of outdoor skills.
Toronto, 8 June 2017 – The Canadian movie premiere of The Sultan and the Saint, a visionary film which speaks with urgency to our present, took place at the Aga Khan Museum before a sold-out audience. A second viewing took place at the Aga Khan Museum on 11 June 2017.
Burnaby – The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a global program with a goal to challenge, encourage, and recognize young people between the ages of 14 to 24. His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, presided over the inspiring ceremony where 70 youth from British Columbia were presented with their Gold Award at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby.

Toronto, 27-28 May 2017 - For a third year in a row, the Ismaili Centre, Toronto opened its doors to the wider community for the 18th annual Doors Open Toronto, an weekend event in which hundreds of buildings of architectural, historic, cultural, and social significance to the city of Toronto open their doors to the public for this free citywide event. Ismaili Centre tour guides hosted over four thousand visitors over the course of the weekend, sharing their insights about the architecture and vision that the late Charles Correa, the modernist Indian architect, had for the design of the Centre.
