Burnaby – Musicians, poets, authors and calligraphers gathered from across the Greater Vancouver area to share and perform in a Chai House format as part of Asian Heritage Month’s exploreAsian Festival.
Each artist was given 10 minutes to perform and share their unique and deeply personal work with an audience that represented Vancouver’s robust and diverse arts and culture community.
This is the second year that the event has been held at the Ismaili Centre. As stated by Imtiaz Popat, a member of exploreAsian festival, “… Mehfil Chai House was a wonderful celebration of Asian Heritage month with such a representation of the diversity of the South Asian and Central Asian artists in Metro Vancouver. It was a perfect example of the pluralist ideas being expressed in the variety of art forms presented."
