Toronto, 22 June 2017- Members of the Implementation Sub-Committee, as part of the Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat and the Government of Ontario, met at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto to discuss progress on various aspects of the Agreement. This was followed by an Iftar dinner hosted by the Ismaili Council for Ontario.

Ismaili Council for Ontario President Sheherazade Hirji welcomed the guests to the Ismaili Centre and commended everyone on the work being done in relation to this Agreement.

Mr. Stewart Wheeler, Chief of Protocol for Ontario and Assistant Deputy Minister of International Relations and Mr. Mohamed Dhanani, co-chaired the meeting, which was focused on updating and discussing the progress in planning for the next policy dialogue related to immigration and culture. The meeting also included brief updates regarding teacher secondments where students from the Academies would be studying in Ontario. Curriculum resources being developed by teacher associations in collaboration with the Aga Khan Museum were also discussed.

Attendees of the meeting included representatives from the Ontario Ministries of Education; Tourism, Culture and Sport; Citizenship and Immigration; and Intergovernmental Affairs as well as representatives of the Ismaili community. Following the meeting, an Iftar dinner was held for the guests which included musical performances and brief remarks by President Hirji.
