The 2nd of November, 2020 marks the 143rd birth anniversary of Imam Sultan Mahomed Shah, Aga Khan III. He succeeded his father as the 48th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili sect of Shia Muslims at the tender age of eight. He was a founding member of the Aligarh University, which became India’s first Muslim university based on the modern education system. He also served as the President of the League of Nations from 1937 to 1938. While his magnificent life and substantial endeavours demonstrate many philanthropic lessons, five significant lessons taken from his autobiography, The Memoirs of Aga Khan, hope to prove relevant and useful to readers today, regardless of caste or creed.

The Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Pakistan (AKYSBP) organised the first Virtual Scout Camporee on the 27th and 28th of June, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions on large gatherings and programmes that require physical presence have been enforced across the country. Utilising technology, this barrier was easily overcome, and Boy Scouts from throughout Pakistan had the opportunity to participate in a National Camporee. AKYSBP Chairman, Mr. Hassan Somani shared, “A Virtual Camporee during the challenging times of COVID-19 not only engaged youngsters from across the country in learning intervention but also enabled all of them to share best practices of the scouting movement.”

The Ismaili eSports segment, which is a Global Encounters programme and under the umbrella of Jubilee Games, will comprise of a multitude of activities that build on each other and culminate in a competitive tournament. The tournament serves as a means to an end and not an end in itself. The first eSport selected for this segment is “The Ismaili eFootball Cup.”

On the occasion of Imamat Day, Mawlana Hazar Imam has graciously sent a Talika Mubarak to the global Jamat, which is being shared via The Ismaili.
