The forum comprised of eight sessions that were primarily focused on women’s empowerment and the leadership skills required in the private and governmental education sectors in preparation for the world after the pandemic. Renowned speakers, such as Dr. Shehzad Jeeva and Mr. Farhad Karamally, highlighted various modes of education and different fields of practice, along with the pursuit of a positive mindset in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Community service and the well-being of self were also identified important factors, as highlighted by Dr. Rozina Karmaliani. In order to sustain skills for future development, participants were given a platform to mould their developing thoughts into practical actions to enhance change through Innovator Breakout Sessions.
The speakers encouraged online learning and highlighted the importance for enhancing reading habits and writing skills, as stated by Ms. Meena Valli Mohammad. Furthermore, Mr. Farid Premani and Mr. Sadiq Punjwani promoted youth leadership and empowerment where the Guides were able to reflect upon SDGs for the future.
Building upon the discussions, participants prepared and gave presentations on their chosen Sustainable Development Goal, which highlighted the engagement of individual and community. Mrs. Mariyam Nawaz, an SDG Advocate for Pakistan, judged these presentations and commented that she was extremely impressed with the knowledge of participants and the actions proposed. She also appreciated the efforts provided by AKYSB,P Guides with regards to promoting the SDGs.
In her closing remarks, National Commissioner, Pakistan Girl Guides Association, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, appreciated the efforts made by AKYSB,P and said,“It is a Guide’s responsibility to reach out to communities, provide support and spread awareness during this pandemic.” Vice President, Council for Pakistan, Mr. Hussein Tajani, also reiterated the sentiment by sharing examples of women from around the world who, with their talent, skills and knowledge, have contributed for their country's betterment. As President, Ismaili Council for Pakistan, Mr. Hafiz Sherali stated, “The Guides in this Youth Forum are the future leaders of our Jamat. [You] have the responsibility of taking the Jamat decades ahead.”
