SEDP - Zeeshan
Zeeshan, a child hailing from Silgan, the remotest valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, was suffering from severe nose bleeding along with heart palpitations. The local healthcare provider had less hope that he would survive beyond a month and advised the family to take Zeeshan to Karachi for advanced treatment. With few resources, his mother was praying for a miracle to happen.
Ismaili CIVIC is a global programme under which the Jamat throughout the world has united around a mission to serve humanity by rendering services to improve the quality of life of the communities in which they live. This international endeavour reflects the community’s ethic of civic engagement and good citizenship, exemplifying Islam’s core values of service, peace, compassion and care for the vulnerable.
Institutional initiatives in Pakistan are assisting the Jamat and the community to take pride in their shared legacy, while a focus on arts and culture is contributing towards improving quality of life.
Next weekend, the Jamat around the world will celebrate Navroz, marking the beginning of a new year and the first day of spring. The Ismaili TV is pleased to present a two-day Navroz programme featuring programmes in multiple languages for children and adults alike.
Youth camps are generally known for promoting collaborative and experiential learning environments. However, in 2020, youth camps at the national and international level had to be modified to adapt to the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19, which necessitated social distance and isolation. During the pandemic, some virtual camps were arranged to fill a much-needed gap in youth engagement. However, virtual platforms have limitations, particularly due to the restrained engagement between participants and the lack of reliable internet connectivity in most regions of Pakistan.
