On the 25th of October, 2019, the Youth and Sports Committee organized a sports fest Junoon- Health with happiness. 

The Youth Coordinating Forum (YCF), consisting of ITREB, Youth and Sports Committee and Education Committee organized a day long educational and entertainment program for youth ages 12-35 years on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) organized a panel discussion titled, “Public Service: Its Joys and Challenges,” at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre in Bashundhara. The seminar brought together representatives from government, civil society, academia and the private sector to discuss the importance of public service on the life and development of the nation, and the challenges and opportunities of that role.

The Embassy of Bangladesh, Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai hosted a cultural evening in partnership with the Ismaili Community at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai on April 21, 2019.

The Aga Khan Council for Bangladesh, celebrated the World Speech Day (WSD). This is an annual event-taking place at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre, every year for the past consecutive four years.

The inspiration for the Friendship Centre came from the Buddhist monasteries in the area, and the architectural influences include exposed brickwork, stark character, and a quadrilateral layout.

Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board (ITREB) Bangladesh, organized a Religious Education Day Camp for the ECD, Primary Talim and Secondary STEP students, focused on the theme of Ethics and Values of Islam (for example:  Integrity, honesty, responsibility, respect, equality, non-violence, compassion, empathy, courage, humility, etc.).  

On January 26, 2019, the Aga Khan Girls Guide, in association with the Bangladesh Girls Guide, extended its support during this hard winter season by donating blankets and other warm clothes to the patients of the Feroza Bari Disabled Children Hospital, which is a pioneer in physiotherapy.

The Ismaili Council for Bangladesh hosted an event earlier this year in which the notion of a cosmopolitan ethic was explored and discussed by a selection of esteemed speakers and guests, gathered within the beautiful setting of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre in Dhaka.

On Thursday, November 22, 2018, Aga Khan Foundation (Bangladesh) hosted “An Evening with Aga Khan Foundation” for the members of the Dhaka Jamat at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre. The main objective of the evening was to inform the Jamat of the work of the Foundation in Bangladesh.

To mark the 30th year of the Aga Khan School Dhaka, alumni, current students, teachers and parents celebrated a day-long event at the Secondary School Building located in Sector 4 of Uttara Model Town on Saturday, November 17, 2018. 

The much-awaited day had come! It was 8am on 18th October 2018 when participants dropped their luggage and started to board the bus and left for Dhaka airport. After all the formalities, they departed by Regent Airways to Cox’s Bazar. 

As the STEP program is being delivered to the Secondary REC students in Dhaka, Bangladesh, students ages 12 to 21 took part in a STEP CAMP organized by ITREB for the first time ever in Bangladesh. The topic was on Identity and Pluralism. The camp was held on Friday, October 5th from 4:30 AM – 4:00 PM and it was led by Mehak Lalani, STEP teacher from USA. Venue was first Jamatkhana, then Kurmitola Golf Club and then sessions in Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center (IJKC). Students started the day by taking part in the rites and rituals of morning Jamatkhana, Later the group went to the Kurmitola Golf Club to enjoy the greenery, walking, breakfast and some golf. Students experienced the sport of golf and it gave exposure to the children to play golf and appreciate the spirit of the sport. Students really enjoyed the sport and were very excited with this new experience.

Vocational skills are very important in today’s fast paced world. While the internet and the age of online apps have taken the world by storm, there are still some skills that are unique to the human ability. One such skill is the art of applying mehndi or henna. Henna is a big part of the Muslim  world and is considered sacred on any joyous occasion, be it religious or cultural. Women across the Muslim world have historically shown a keen interest towards this art while also possessing great skill in it. While henna art looks different in different cultures, henna artists nowadays take inspiration from all forms to come out with something truly creative.

It was 9 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, Primary and Secondary students and teachers of Dhaka Religious Education Center gather in the housing colony all excited and enthusiastic much ahead of time. Everyone boards the bus to start the thrilling and educational journey to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre.

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), Bangladesh celebrated the 61st anniversary of the ascension of Mawlana Hazar Imam to the Ismaili Imamat. The event also marked the conclusion of year-long commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee of Hazar Imam, which culminated in a global celebrations, including an address by Hazar Imam to Portugal’s members of Parliament, and the establishment of the new Seat of the Ismaili Imamat in Lisbon, Portugal.
