Hailing from Aliabad, Hunza, Sirbaz Khan, 32, has become the first Pakistani to scale the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest (8848m) as well as Mount Annapurna (8091m) within 30 days. Sirbaz dedicates his achievement to the memory of late Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara. The expedition was sponsored by the Serena Hotels under its Adventure Diplomacy.

To date, Sirbaz has successfully completed seven peaks, all of which are above 8000m. After his summit of Mount Everest, he announced to continue his quest and accomplish his streak to climb the remaining seven peaks above 8000m and become the first Pakistani ever to achieve this feat.

“My dear Pakistanis, this is the best gift I could give you for this Eid. Please accept it as “Eidi” from my side. These last 30 days have been crazy, but very rewarding. First Mount Annapurna accomplished on the 16th of April and now Mount Everest which I completed on the 12th of May,” noted exuberantly Sirbaz Khan.

Starting his climbing career in 2016, Sirbaz is known to be a focused and talented climber. Earlier in 2019, Sirbaz also made history by becoming the first Pakistani to summit the world’s fourth highest peak Mount Lhotse (8516m) in Nepal without the use of supplementary oxygen.

“I worked 11 years in the kitchen before becoming a professional climber. It has been a great journey and it is far from over. There are still seven more peaks to ascend before I complete my mission of all fourteen 8000m peaks of the world,” Khan expressed.

Other successful summits in his category of 8000m include the world’s second highest mountain, the mighty K2 at 8611m, Manaslu, ranked eighth at 8163m, Nanga Parbat, coming in at ninth place at 8126m and Broad Peak in twelfth place at 8051m.

Believing in the spirit of volunteerism, Sirbaz has actively participated in different volunteer services organised by the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Pakistan. Sirbaz Khan has been an active Ismaili Scout since the age of six.

An exemplary human being, Sirbaz continues on his journey to complete all 14 peaks as the world watches with anticipation.
