A special presentation on the Global Centre for Pluralism to be held at the Ismaili Centre London.
Members of Law Enforcement Agencies from the Metro Vancouver were hosted at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby on 19 September for a presentation on the diversity and history of Islam by Rizwan Mawani. Participants shared perspectives and perceptions of Islam followed by Rizwan’s presentation. One of the RCMP members commented that “this session gave me a better understanding of the diversity within the Muslim communities and I’m so impressed with the Ismaili Centre, and how volunteer service has been at the heart of this building and your community”.

Mawlana Hazar Imam will visit Canada in October 2018 at the invitation of leading civil society institutions. During this time, Hazar Imam will attend a special ceremony for the inauguration of the Aga Khan Garden, Alberta, to be presided over by the Honourable Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta. He will also be awarded honorary degrees by three Canadian Universities for his achievements, and contributions to humanity.
Denmark-based Information Technology (IT) professional, Shaukat Khan, heads global IT infrastructure for Novo Nordisk, a multinational pharmaceutical company. He has extensive experience in leading infrastructure and development teams. Prior to Novo Nordisk, he worked with UNICEF’s HQ IT Centre in Copenhagen.

Mawlana Hazar Imam was presented with France’s highest honour, La Grand-croix de la Légion d’honneur (The Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour), in recognition of his contributions to humanity, and to improving the quality of life in some of the most vulnerable regions and communities around the world.
Dr Karen Armstrong, an internationally acclaimed scholar and best-selling author of numerous books on religion, will deliver an Ismaili Centre International Lecture at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai. Dr Armstrong will speak about the Charter of Compassion which she launched with religious leaders globally. The charter has over two million signatures and brings to light the reason and urgency of practising compassion in a polarised world.

On the occasion of the centenary of the end of the First World War, the Ismaili Council for France represented the France jurisdiction Jamat at a ceremony to mark the memory of soldiers of South Asian origin, who lost their lives a century ago. Guests at the event came together to focus on unity and cohesion between all peoples.
Vocational skills are very important in today’s fast paced world. Henna is a big part of the Muslim world and is considered sacred on any joyous occasion, be it religious or cultural. Women across the Muslim world have historically shown a keen interest towards this art while also possessing great skill in it. While henna art looks different in different cultures, henna artists nowadays take inspiration from all forms to come out with something truly creative.
On 2 June, 2018 the first graduating intermediate class of computer programmers were awarded certificates on successful completion of Programming with Python, at Ismaili Centre Dubai.
The University of Central Asia’s Khorog campus in Tajikistan was officially inaugurated on 14 September 2018, joining the world-class centre for knowledge and learning, which connects isolated rural communities with the global community. The Khorog campus is the second to become operational after UCA's Naryn campus was inaugurated in Kyrgyzstan in 2016.

Mawlana Hazar Imam, at the invitation of the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, today joined world leaders at the funeral of former Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan. Mr Annan was laid to rest at a state funeral in Accra, Ghana earlier today. Hazar Imam was accompanied by Princess Zahra.
