Rizwan Mawani is an educator, scholar and research consultant with experience in more than 30 countries. He has a background in anthropology and religious studies and was previously Research Coordinator and Lead Researcher in the Institute of Ismaili Studies’ Department of Community Relations. Here he conducted field research on Muslim practices amongst 50 communities, in 17 countries, from Senegal and Iran to China and Indonesia. Rizwan has also participated in anti-radicalization round-tables with law enforcement agencies in Toronto.
Attendees included representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Vancouver Police Department, Corrections BC, Independent Investigations Office of BC and Transit Police, and had the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session following the presentation.
