Born in Pakistan, she grew up in a resource-constrained household that prioritized education above all else. Her introduction to nursing at Aga Khan University (AKU) was unexpected but transformative. It set the foundation for a remarkable career, one marked by defying societal norms and pursuing her passion against the odds. She earned a diploma in nursing, followed by a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA—achievements that signified the beginning of a career defined by excellence and commitment.
‘Chhatra’: A Timeless Metaphor
Chhatra-chhaayaa is derived from Sanskrit and combines the words 'chhatra,' meaning ‘protective covering,’ and 'chhaayaa,' meaning ‘shade.’ From the time of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam) and the earliest Imams to Mawlana Hazar Imam (alayhim as sallam), the chhatra-chhaayaa has been expressed in the form of spiritual and worldly support, blessings for ease of difficulties, and timely guidance for the Jamat.
