Athletes and spectators from across Canada will be in Calgary over the August long weekend for the 2015 Canadian Ismaili Games. Organisers are expecting record numbers at the Canadian qualifier event for the 2016 Jubilee Games.

The 2015 Canadian Ismaili Games are being held in Calgary, Alberta between 31 July – 3 August. Thousands of athletes, spectators and volunteers will converge on the city to compete, cheer and offer their service during the August long weekend.

Mawlana Hazar Imam and Prince Amyn visit the site of the Aga Khan Museum, the Ismaili Centre, Toronto and their Park. The development has been described by the local media as a “crown jewel” for the Don Mills neighborhood where it is situated.

The Aga Khan Park will come to life on 5 July when the Pan Am lantern makes an appearance at the park’s inaugural event Reflections: Celebrating our Cultures and Communities. The Pan Am flame represents the spirit of the Games taking place in Toronto this summer.

The two year Masters in Nursing program at AKU-SONAM is the first of its kind in Pakistan. Thesis defense is one of the most important forms of training within the program. The process requires an External Examiner to review student theses and examine them on the day of their thesis defense. Dr. Salimah Meghani was selected as the External Examiner for 2011 through the Time and Knowledge Nazrana initiative.

Parwaaz Early Child Development Programme is one of a number of early child development initiatives introduced in Pakistan. It is helping parents in the Jamat to to give their young children the best start in life.

Shaahin Sayani has been involved with the QOL’s GED initiative since its early beginnings. “We had a soft launch with two classes in Atlanta in February of 2013 before we launched the full program in the Southeast,” recalls Shaahin. As the head of logistics, Shaahin was responsible for ensuring that facilities and resources were available for the three-hour classes that were held three times a week.

Lisbon, 3 June 2015 — Mawlana Hazar Imam and Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Rui Machete signed a landmark agreement today, for the establishment of a formal Seat of the Ismaili Imamat in Portugal.

Lisbon, 2 June 2015 — Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Portugal this afternoon to sign a historic agreement between the Imamat and the Republic of Portugal.

Toronto, 28 May 2015 — The Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada delivered the Global Centre for Pluralism Annual Lecture. The event took place at the Aga Khan Museum in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam and numerous Canadian dignitaries.

Toronto, 25 May 2015 — The Aga Khan Park was inaugurated by the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario, in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam. During the ceremony they unveiled a ceremonial plaque to mark the occasion.

Toronto, 25 May 2015 — Mawlana Hazar Imam and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne signed a historic Agreement of Cooperation between the province and the Ismaili Imamat today. The agreement reflects the shared concerns of the Ismaili Imamat and the Government of Ontario for society’s most vulnerable populations, and a desire to support the advancement of people and collaborate in fields of mutual interest such as education.
