The mission of ITREB is provide religious education and facilitates religious formation at all levels of the Jamat. ITREB is responsible for training religious teachers, facilitators, and waezeen. It also undertakes research, and produces resources for the Jamat.
As we adjust to fundamental changes in our experience of life, we might experience lots of different and often difficult emotions. Shairoz Sharma has been working at Baitul Ilms for close to 15 years across London, France and Leicester. Her ambitions in religious teaching started at the young age of 17 in Leicester. “We specifically taught nursery students on Friday evenings in Leicester.”
In September 2019, 40 new students joined The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) for post-graduate study, arriving from Canada, India, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and the USA. On a spring evening last month in London, The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) launched their newest publication, entitled The First Aga Khan: Memoirs of the 46th Ismaili Imam. The book covers a significant period of Ismaili history and sheds light on the remarkable life and career of the 46th Ismaili Imam - Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah.
Illustrated with more than 250 spectacular images, Islam: An Illustrated Journey explores the rich pluralistic heritage of Islam in a clear and accessible way. The book takes readers on a visual journey from the advent of Islam up to the present day, and across the landscapes of the Middle East, the Mediterranean, South and Central Asia, the Indian Ocean, Africa, and Europe.
The Ismaili Centre London hosted a reception and launch event last month for the newly released book Understanding Sharia: Islamic Law in a Globalised World published by I.B. Tauris in association with The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS). The book encourages new thinking about the history of sharia and its role in the world today.
