Burnaby – Renowned theatre group, Silk Road Rising, performed the award winning and celebrated play, “Oh My Sweet Land” at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby in partnership with the Aga Khan Museum.
Toronto, 25 April 2017 - The Ismaili Centre, Toronto launched its Canada 150 Series with a Fireside Chat featuring the Honourable Yasir Naqvi, Attorney General of Ontario, and Khalil Shariff, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada. The chat, titled The Role of Public Policy and Politics as Canada Turns 150, demonstrated the Series’ objective to encourage dialogue surrounding issues of public importance.
Burnaby – University of British Columbia’s 15th president and vice-chancellor, Dr. Santa Ono, explored the shifting but profound responsibility held by universities in shaping and preparing students for leadership in the present and future global community at the event entitled “The Changing Role of Higher Education: Developing the Next Generation of Global Leaders.” Ono discussed the prevalence and ubiquity of technology and how it is changing the way in which students, professors, universities, and industries interact.

Burnaby, 30 March 2017 – Yawm-e-Ali is the celebration of the birthday of Hazrat Ali, the first Shia Imam and the last of the four “rightly‐guided caliphs”. In commemorating Yaw’m-e-Ali, Syed Ali Abbas Razawi, Director General of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, shared a moving and inspiring talk at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby about the principals of leadership, pluralism, respect and authority through examples set by Imam Ali. Two days later, Mr. Razawi addressed a full audience at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. Mr. Razawi’s Toronto lecture was also webcast live on theIsmaili.org.
Toronto, 17 March, 2017 - The Ismaili Centre, Toronto was bustling with activity from 13- 17 March as a group of newly arrived students participated in a photography workshop. The initiative, a partnership between the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and the Ismaili Council for Canada, was led by Laurence Butet-Roch and Ian Willms of Boreal Collective, an internationally-based group of freelance photographers and supported by volunteer staff at the Centre.

Burnaby, 10 January 2017 — Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, Executive Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University of Central Asia (UCA), spoke about the role of the university as an international institution with campuses in the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Dushanbe, 6–7 December 2014 — The Ismaili Centre, Dushanbe hosted the 4th Winter Handicraft fair and International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which brought together more than 50 artisans presenting Tajik national crafts from various regions of the country.
Dushanbe, 3 December 2014 — A national conference on tourism development in Tajikistan, organised by the Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, was held at the Ismaili Centre, Dushanbe.
