When heavy January rains caused massive flooding in south and central Mozambique, the Ismaili community and the institutions of the Ismaili Imamat quickly mobilized a response. A donation of food, medicine, tools, and supplies was assembled to help the Government of Mozambique support victims, volunteers and military forces who were providing assistance on the ground.

The agreement facilitates further collaboration in the areas of health sciences, education, the environment, forestry and natural resources management, culture, and private sector and economic development.

The agreement is the first of its kind in Canada, and marks a special milestone for the Canadian Jamat.
London, 22 October 2012 – Mawlana Hazar Imam was awarded the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award by the Synergos Institute. In a letter that was read before the audience, David Rockefeller commended the Imam’s work through the Aga Khan Development Network for having “leveraged the social conscience of Islam in ways that benefit people of all faiths; promoting tolerance, pluralism, and broad-based development.”
