Big Iftar dinner held at West London Jamatkhana

London, 22 July 2014 – British Muslims and friends of the community gathered at West London Jamatkhana yesterday evening, where the Ismaili Muslim community hosted an Iftar dinner. The fast-breaking meal was part of The Big Iftar, an initiative of the Government of the United Kingdom to promote neighborliness and strengthen community relations by sharing a meal.
Princess Zahra visits Mumbai and Dhaka

Toronto, 29 May 2014 – At the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Mawlana Hazar Imam gave a keynote speech this morning at a summit on the global fight to improve maternal, newborn and child health in developing countries. The gathering, brought together world leaders to focus on reducing the preventable deaths of newborns, mothers and children under the age of five.

RAYS OF LIGHT: Glimpses into the Ismaili Imamat opened recently in Nairobi. First launched in 2008 in Paris, the exhibition – a Golden Jubilee International Programme – offers glimpses from the life of Mawlana Hazar Imam, the first fifty years of his Imamat and the immense scope and work of Aga Khan Development Network institutions around the world.
UAE looks forward to opening of the Aga Khan Museum

An event hosted at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai by the Aga Khan Museum and the Embassy of Canada to the United Arab Emirates offered a preview of what will be the first museum in North America dedicated to the Islamic arts and cultures. Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak al-Nahyan applauded the Museum’s goal to showcase diversity of Muslim societies and foster greater understanding amongst peoples of different backgrounds.

California, AKDN and FOCUS renew and expand collaboration on disaster mitigation and preparedness

AKDN, FOCUS and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December that aims to reduce loss of life from man-made and natural disasters. The MOU builds on the Agreement of Cooperation that has been in place between the Ismaili Imamat and the State of California since 2009.

Prime Minister of Tanzania inaugurates RAYS OF LIGHT

Dar es Salaam, 8 February 2014 – RAYS OF LIGHT: Glimpses into the Ismaili Imamat was inaugurated at Diamond Jubilee Hall today by the Prime Minister of Tanzania, the Right Honourable Mizengo Peter Pinda. A Golden Jubilee International Programme depicting the first 50 years of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Imamat, the photographic exhibition also coincides with the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the Union of Tanganika and Zanzibar.
