Prince Aly Muhammad Aga Khan, youngest son of Mawlana Hazar Imam, yesterday arrived in Pakistan for a private visit.
8 October 2017 - Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Uganda this afternoon for his first Diamond Jubilee visit.
At 11 am on Friday, September 29th, the Social hall of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre, Dhaka was filled with over 220 audience members eagerly awaiting the first performance of the much-anticipated ITREB event: Jashan-e-Jubilee.
The occasion of Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee brings with it a host of celebrations and opportunities to come together as a jamat throughout the year. For this Jubilee, there are six key themes to explore as we prepare and celebrate this momentous occasion. Theme 1 was for August and September which was led by ITREB.
A reception was hosted by the Aga Khan Development Network at the Polana Serena Hotel in Maputo, to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee year of Mawlana Hazar Imam.
The Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum announced on Saturday that Mawlana Hazar Imam, at the invitation of the Governments of Uganda and Tanzania, has confirmed that he will visit both countries in early October. Details of the visits will be shared once confirmed.
In 2017, the Canadian Jamat is celebrating both the Diamond Jubilee as well as the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. In honour of these special occasions, the Jamat has pledged one million hours of service to improving quality of life in Canada as part of the Ismaili CIVIC 150 initiative.
Hurricane Harvey has been referred to as a "1,000-year flood," with its 50 inches of rainfall exceeding all records for the continental USA. It is estimated that damage from the storm will surpass that of hurricanes Sandy (New Jersey 2012) and Katrina (Louisiana 2005) combined. Volunteers have worked to reach Jamati members and others affected by the flooding, and to provide assistance with the recovery process.
A special event was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Mawlana Hazar Imam, a 60-year period during which the Imam has dedicated efforts to improving the quality of life around the world.
Yesterday, the Portuguese Republic and the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa each bestowed honours and tributes upon Mawlana Hazar Imam. The visit to Portugal was Hazar Imam’s first official public event since the commencement of his Diamond Jubilee.
On 11 July 2017, His Highness the Aga Khan commences his Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years as the Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. He is only the fifth Imam in the 1,400 year history of the Ismaili Imamat to reach this epic milestone.
Yesterday, Ismaili Muslims all over the world symbolically crossed the threshold of Aiglemont and joined in procession with hundreds of senior Jamati leaders, as they called on the residence of the Imam of the Time to offer homage on the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee.
On 19 May 2017, the Architectural League of New York awarded Mawlana Hazar Imam the President’s Medal, its highest and most important honour. The occasion highlighted the values of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, established 40 years ago.
