London, 7 July 2014 – Over 5 000 parcels of food and provisions were packed at UK Jamatkhanas this Saturday to help some of the most vulnerable populations in London, Birmingham and Leicester. Local charities will distribute the packages under Share a Smile, an Ismaili community initiative to help those in need during the month of Ramadan.

Princess Zahra visited India and Bangladesh in June to review progress in the redevelopment of Prince Aly Khan Hospital and the surrounding Aga Hall estate, and to take part in celebrating the silver jubilee of the Aga Khan School in Dhaka. While the annual Premier Cup cricket tournament brought Ontario Ismaili Muslims together in April, it was also part of a wider effort to build cricket pitches and support programming in Toronto neighbourhoods that are home to large South Asian immigrant communities.

Mawlana Hazar Imam visited the Parliament of the Republic of Portugal, where he was greeted by the President of the Assembly of the Republic. Hazar Imam is in Lisbon at the invitation of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, to receive the 2013 North-South Prize.

Mawlana Hazar Imam is one of two recipients of the 2013 North-South Prize of the Council of Europe. The prize was awarded by the President of Portugal in a ceremony held at the Portuguese Parliament on Thursday, 12 June 2014.

Toronto, 29 May 2014 – At the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Mawlana Hazar Imam gave a keynote speech this morning at a summit on the global fight to improve maternal, newborn and child health in developing countries. The gathering, brought together world leaders to focus on reducing the preventable deaths of newborns, mothers and children under the age of five.
