Inclusivity is an imperative ethic for the growth of any community. The only true disability which exists in society is the inability to accept and acknowledge each other’s differences. The Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board (AKYSB) in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBBC) and the Aga Khan Social Welfare Board, arranged a Blind Cricket and Bowling Tournament for differently-abled Jamati members from Gilgit, Hunza, Ishkoman Puniyal, Gupis Yasin, Upper Chitral, and Central Regions.

Anita Karim, a 22 year-old from Karimabad, Hunza, is the first female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter to represent Pakistan at an international level. Anita won her second international match at the One Warrior Series (OWS) in Singapore, against Indonesia’s Gita Suharsono, where she dominated all three rounds of the fight.
The Shimshal Diamond Jubilee Women’s Band, in collaboration with Women’s Volunteers and Girl Guides, held band training sessions for women across the four Jamatkhanas of Shimshal.
A “Heritage Discovery Tour” was organised by the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Pakistan for young individuals to explore the richness of Punjab’s historic and cultural heritage. 27 inquiring minds, with an interest in cultural knowledge, participated in this programme from different parts of Pakistan. By understanding the initiatives undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Network, participants became aware of the quest to preserve this tradition.
Situated in the mountains of Northern Pakistan, two new Jamatkhanas were opened last month in the valleys of Ishkoman and Puniyal in Gilgit-Baltistan. The inauguration ceremonies were attended by over 5,000 members of the Jamat.
Unity in Diversity – Let’s Embrace Our Differences’ was the theme of the sixth boy scouts and girl guides camporee organised by the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board, Pakistan. The camp was held at Pakistan Boys Scouts Association headquarters, Sumbal Park, Islamabad. An astounding 255 boy scouts and 286 girl guides from all over the country attended the camp.

The Hunza Girl Guides recently achieved national recognition from the Pakistan Girl Guides Association for their work to protect the natural environment. The Hunza Girl Guides focused on the mess left behind by tourists visiting the beautiful region, cleaning, making, and maintaining dustbins to encourage tourists to properly dispose of rubbish.
