On the 31st of March 2024, Ismaili CIVIC Mozambique volunteers supported around 4000 residents of Matola and Marraquene to receive crucial support after heavy rains.

They were honored by the presence and kind words from Matola Mayor, His Excellency Júlio Parruque, and Marraquene Mayor, Shafee Sidat.

In the act of receiving the donated material, basic food supplies and hygiene items, the mayor of Matola His Excellency Júlio Parruque said:

" While we think about and solve the problems of the rainy season, we need to ensure that families don't lose hope. We are now on a solid front of pumping water to relieve neighborhoods and homes. We need more industrial motor pumps, strong motor pumps and we need fuel, we need trucks, we're mobilizing, we're investing in that too, but this support is a great response for the families."

The Marraquene Municipality Mayor His Excellency Shafee Sidat was also present at the act of donations directly to the families affected by the rains. He thanked the Ismaili CIVIC initiative also contemplating the organization and fast response.

" This community saw that you were suffering, called me, and said: We want to help! The same thing they're doing today in Matola. They've been doing this every year. They've been very supportive of our communities. Not just with food. (...) So I want to thank them on my behalf and behalf of the municipality, but I'm going to give a word to the people of the community to say something."
