On February 15, 2024, students from Grade 9 visited the Indian Navy ship Varaha. It was their first time experiencing such an excursion, which provided an amazing opportunity for all students, including day students, residential students, and exchange students alike. The crew of the Indian Navy warmly welcomed the staff and students, providing detailed instructions on how to navigate using different instruments. Some highlights of the visit included seeing the main cannon of the ship, conversing about the control buttons, discovering the extensive training curriculum of the sailors, and recognizing the symbolic significance of the uniform stripes.
Overall, the immersive interaction provided a fascinating exploration into the life and work of Navy sailors.
Thank you to the High Commission of India in Maputo and the Navy staff for inviting The Aga Khan Academy for such an exciting visit!
