Growing up in Hafizabad, Pakistan, Ameen Asif always dreamed of working as a healthcare provider to ease the struggle of his people and to save lives. In 2014, Ameen took a step toward this dream by completing his degree in nursing from the Aga Khan University in Karachi.

After graduating, Ameen worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department of Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi from 2014 to 2018. Thereafter, he moved to Punjab where he worked with Aga Khan Health Services. After many years in the field, he transitioned to working as a nursing instructor at Shalamar Nursing College, Lahore. Currently, he is completing further education with a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan.

During this crisis situation, Ameen continues to serve by volunteering with the Aga Khan Health Board for Lahore. The Health Board deals with multiple cases daily through telemedicine, each case with different signs and symptoms. They receive a number of calls from the region, and guide patients or refer them to the relevant service.

In this tough time of Covid-19, Ameen’s advice to the global Jamat is to stay calm, and that “healthcare providers are working for your better health. We need your support to stop the spread of this fatal virus. Stay home and stay safe!”
