The spirit of giving, sharing and caring is an old tradition kept alive through volunteerism in Ismaili practice across the world and varies in form. Time and Knowledge Nazrana is an opportunity to share knowledge and skills acquired through years of experience.

Time and Knowledge Nazrana or TKN, brings together the offering of an unconditional Nazrana to the Imam of the time by acquiring and sharing knowledge to build institutional capacity for the progress of the Jamat and the communities in which they live.

TKN was launched during Mawla Hazar Imams Golden Jubilee and it provides the link between the person’s expertise and skills and the needs of the Jamati as well as AKDN institutions. Since the Golden Jubilee launch and during the course of the Diamond Jubilee, many murids offered Time and Knowledge Nazrana to our Imam-e-Zaman. The TKN has now become a resource pool of tens of thousands of volunteers serving locally, nationally and internationally.

Members of our Jamat have seen how TKN utilization can have a significant impact on improving lives. With minimal effort and through collaboration with Jamati and AKDN institutions, TKN volunteers can find meaningful ways to enhance institutional capacity and work towards human development and improvement of the quality of life.

Living in a developing environment with scarce professional resources augments the need for sharing one’s knowledge. As the Jamat grows and the institutional projects continue to expand in Mozambican, the need for TKN volunteers is crucial for achieving best practice standards in our institutions.

Each time a volunteer is allocated to serve under the TKN program there is an opportunity to share knowledge and skills acquired through years of experience which directly contributes to the development of local communities. Volunteers have served in diverse fields some of which include: education, human resources, health care, management & administration, financial services, training and development, engineering and arts & culture.

We live in a diverse Jamats spread over different countries and collaboration has shown to be an effective way to contribute to specific institutional needs. Making a heart connection with the needs of others and being able to fill those needs is both gratifying and exhilarating. It is a life changing experience for the volunteer.
