As a part of the Reading Marathon students were encouraged to read a book every day for 25 days in a row and write a book review. Equally important was to check marks on the bingo card, customized, especially for the read-a-thon. These tools helped the mentors to maintain a daily record of the Reading of every student.

This was the underpinning objective. Read, read and read more and read regularly. Not only to foster language and vocabulary but also to sharpen critical thinking skills and of course, develop a love for reading.
The team mentors' and parents' tireless efforts and constant encouragement enabled the kids to stay inspired and to read with passion, excitement, and interest every day.
The marathon was wrapped up with a celebration where the kids dressed up as their favorite book characters. A book character parade was organized for the event. Participants also set up their stations, displayed their books, handmade bookmarks, and prepared book covers. They also gave presentations about their books, the value of reading, the character they were dressed up as, and why they chose it.
"Now reading is no longer occasional, it's a habit that our family will sustain" said .... a parent.A statement that may be true for parents of all those 200 students across Mozambique, whole heartedly participated and learned from this initiative of the Education portfolio!
