Toronto, 20 November 2015 — Consul General Juan Alsace toured the Ismaili Centre, Toronto and the Aga Khan Museum with the Centre’s Executive Officer Mohamed Dhanani and Museum Director Henry Kim.
Toronto, 19 November 2015 — The Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office (TNO) celebrated 30 years of operations at a gala event held at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. The evening featured Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne as keynote speaker and CityNews anchor Gord Martineau as master of ceremonies.
His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan delivered an Ismaili Centre International Lecture on 2 November 2015 at the Ismaili Centre, London. An on-stage discussion with journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown followed the lecture, together with questions from the audience.
Toronto, 13 November 2015 — Jim Kokocki, President of Toastmasters International delivered the keynote address at a communication and leadership skills event held at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. Canadian actor and television personality Husein Madhavji, who currently stars in the medical drama Saving Hope, was the evening’s host.
Toronto, 13 November 2015 – Andrea Horwath, Leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party and Jennifer French, Member of Provincial Parliament visited the Ismaili Centre Toronto and the Aga Khan Museum.
Andrea Horwath is the Leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party in Canada. She is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Hamilton Centre, and was chosen as the party's leader at its 2009 leadership convention. Horwath is the first woman to lead the Ontario New Democratic Party and one of only three women to serve as leader of a political party with representation in the provincial legislature.
Jennifer French, elected in 2014, is the Member for Provincial Parliament representing the riding of Oshawa. French is also the New Democratic Party Caucus critic on Pensions and Community Safety and Correctional Services. This was their first visit to the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre, Toronto.

The Co-Director of the IIS, Dr Farhad Daftary was recently in Mumbai to launch two new publications that trace the progress of modern Ismaili studies from the contributions of Wladimir Ivanow to contemporary times. The event was an opportunity for bridge-building among communities that share a common history.

The contribution of TKN volunteers has been instrumental in the success of the Girls Mentorship Program of Canada. The program is designed to provide a support system for teenage girls during critical years in their lives. Mentees are paired with mentors who are professional women with whom they can relate.
