On the third day of his Diamond Jubilee visit to the United Arab Emirates, Mawlana Hazar Imam travelled to Abu Dhabi where he met with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
On Monday, 22 January the Jamat gathered at DWC for the first official celebration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Embracing diversity and pluralism requires humility. To genuinely say that diversity is a strength, and that it is through diversity that we progress, is to say that “I” alone do not have all the answers.
The Ismaili Jamatkhana, Plano hosted an interfaith event, where people of all religions were invited to learn more about the Ismaili Muslim community to bridge the gap with the greater Plano community.

In preparation for Mawlana Hazar Imam's Diamond Jubilee visit, the Ismaili Centre Dubai is vibrant with activity and excitement. Mawlana Hazar Imam will be visiting the United Arab Emirates on the official invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. During his visit, Hazar Imam will meet with the UAE Jurisdiction Jamats.

In preparation for the Diamond Jubilee visit by Mawlana Hazar Imam, hundreds of volunteers gathered at the Ismaili Centre Dubai for volunteer orientation, and took the time to pose for a group photo!
The second event of DJSF was a Polo Tournament, held in Gupis Yasin in late 2017. Polo is an extremely popular sport in the region and 5,000 spectators from the Jamat and sister communities came to enjoy the thrilling matches. Hafiz Sherali, President of the Ismaili Council for Pakistan, attended the final match and distributed medals. Gupis “A” won a closely contested competition with Ishkoman Puniyal achieving silver and Lower Chitral bagging the bronze medal.
“When I was younger, people didn’t know how to read,” recalled Musa Khan. “If we received a letter, we had to travel far to find someone who could read it for us. Today, every child in the area is enrolled in school.” The educational progress covered in Musa Khan’s lifetime is that of centuries. Musa is one of many teachers who have dedicated their lives to educating children in their communities in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral regions of Pakistan.
Raficq Abdulla MA (Oxon.) MBE will deliver the annual Milad-un-Nabi Lecture at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto on Saturday, 20 January 2018. His lecture is entitled “The Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him and his family) – The Man and The Ideal". Continuing the ‘Diamond Jubilee Lecture Series' at the Ismaili Centre, London, Professor Alan Winfield, Professor of Robot Ethics, University of the West of England, Bristol, delivered a lecture entitled 'AI Futures: the Societal Impact of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence' on Thursday, 22 February 2018. The lecture was followed by a discussion, moderated by Professor Alnoor Bhimani, London School of Economics, on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on human society.
