The Aga Khan Development Network in Tanzania marked the 62nd anniversary of Mawlana Hazar Imam's ascension to the Ismaili Imamat at a reception held at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The Government of Tanzania was officially represented by Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi.
Four young Ismailis from Pakistan have been appointed onto the 33-member National Youth Council (NYC) recently established by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. The council’s mandate is to work for the upliftment of Pakistani youth and influence national policy and decision-making. Its members are prominent figures from various fields including Education, Sports, Religion, Economics, and the Arts.
A Lunch and Learn event to facilitate knowledge exchange between the Ismaili community and public officials was organized by the Ismaili Council for the Central US at Albuquerque Jamatkhana on April 13, 2019. Ismaili value systems that unify the Jamat globally and the ethics of service in our faith were shared with the guests.

On July 7th, 2019, the Ismaili Volunteer Corps of Tanzania and Zambia celebrated 100 years of volunteerism in the Ismaili Community. The event coincided with the 62nd Imamat Day Celebrations of Mawlana Hazar Imam, at the Diamond Jubilee Complex in Dar es Salaam. The celebratory day commenced with the flag hoisting of the “My Flag” and a March past by the Aga Khan Scouts and Guides, and past and present Ismaili Volunteer Majors that have served in the Ismaili Volunteer Corps.

Young members of the Jamat had the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents through the Jubilee Arts initiative at various regional and national events around the world during the Diamond Jubilee year. Artists as young as 6 years of age submitted entries, and a number of them were selected to represent their Jamats at the International Arts Festival in Lisbon (IAF) last July.
Last July, in the first undertaking of its kind, Ismailis from all across the globe gathered in Lisbon to appreciate and celebrate the artistic creativity, diversity, and unity of the global Jamat. The success of the international Jubilee Arts programme has gone on to forge a legacy which continues to inspire artists to create, connect, and celebrate.

In May 2019, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex visited a health programme run by the Aga Khan Health Services at the Sir Elly Kadoorie School and Junior College in Mumbai, India. The Countess was on a five-day visit to India to see the work of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.
Over 500 delegates from the Jamats of Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa gathered for the launch of the Ismaili Economic Forum (IEF) held in Nairobi in April 2019. The Forum was organised to bring together Ismaili businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs, to discuss and respond to rapid change in Africa and advancements in technology on the continent, and to build economic and knowledge capacity within the Jamat.
This day last year, 6 July 2018, the Jubilee Arts International Arts Festival opened in Lisbon, Portugal, where thousands of Ismailis had gathered to commemorate the conclusion of Mawlana Hazar Imam's Diamond Jubilee. On this occasion, The.Ismaili is pleased to share with the global Jamat a digital magazine looking back at the Jubilee Arts International Art Gallery.
Prince Amyn visited the Ismaili Centre, London, on 4 July to officially open the Seeing Through Babel exhibition, the first public exhibit at the Centre’s newly reopened Zamana Space.
Younger generations invariably inherit the earth from those who came before. It is often these youngsters who are leading action to create positive change in their surroundings. Here are some examples of inspiring stories of young members of the Jamat working to introduce sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in their communities.
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) organized a panel discussion titled, “Public Service: Its Joys and Challenges,” at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre in Bashundhara. The seminar brought together representatives from government, civil society, academia and the private sector to discuss the importance of public service on the life and development of the nation, and the challenges and opportunities of that role.
