In this public lecture, Professor Avery Broderick told the incredible tale of how a global collaboration of astronomers, physicists and engineers literally travelled to the ends of the Earth to synthesize a telescope the size of the Earth, the only instrument capable of probing the staggeringly small scales presented by black holes.

Nuit Blanche is an annual festival, where for one night an entire city is turned into an art gallery. Museums, art galleries, and other cultural institutions are open and accessible free of charge. For the fifth year in a row, from sunset to sunrise the Aga Khan Park, the Ismaili Centre, Toronto, and the Aga Khan Museum were alive with an array of art exhibits, multimedia installations, and musical performances for Nuit Blanche 2019.

At 10:56 pm, on Sunday, July 20, 1969, the limits of human possibility expanded when humans first set foot on the moon. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of that milestone, we’re hosting a two-day festival in partnership with the Aga Khan Museum and the Aga Khan Park on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.
In line with our partnership series, the National Council and Outreach team organised a presentation by the Deputy Mayor of Porto, the Embassy of Portugal and Emirates Airline.
June – September, 2019 – The Aga Khan Museum, Ismaili Centre Toronto and the Aga Khan Park was home to three festivals this summer. Bringing together a wide array of activities including live art, music, dance classes, food fairs, artisan markets, tours and a travelling planetarium, the complex was filled with excitement and entertainment for the entire family.
The Ismaili Centre Dubai, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai, held a programme in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps, featuring Indus Blues, a film directed by Jawad Sharif, which documents the struggles of Pakistani folk artists in keeping their art alive.
Dr. Amyn Sajoo, Scholar-in-Residence at Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies, returns to the Ismaili Centre, Toronto for three exciting conversations on June 22, September 7 and October 12 with some inspiring and engaging individuals. These conversations explore the nexus of citizenship, identity, and faith in our contemporary world.
