Toronto, 10 September 2014 — Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Canada this afternoon, ahead of the opening of the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. Toronto, 5 September 2014 — Mawlana Hazar Imam will preside over the opening of the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre, Toronto on Friday, 12 September. The occasion will be marked by two separate ceremonies, followed by a reception at the Aga Khan Museum.

Chicago, 28 August 2014 – This Labour Day weekend, Ismaili Muslims from across Canada and the United States will gather in Chicago for the inaugural North American Ismaili Games. An expected 1 300 athletes will compete in 12 sports, making the event the largest Ismaili sports tournament ever staged in North America.

Toronto, 18 August 2014 – The Aga Khan Museum announced today that it will open its doors to the public on Thursday, 18 September. The announcement also coincided with the launch of the museum’s website.

London, 22 July 2014 – British Muslims and friends of the community gathered at West London Jamatkhana yesterday evening, where the Ismaili Muslim community hosted an Iftar dinner. The fast-breaking meal was part of The Big Iftar, an initiative of the Government of the United Kingdom to promote neighborliness and strengthen community relations by sharing a meal.

Mawlana Hazar Imam visited the Parliament of the Republic of Portugal, where he was greeted by the President of the Assembly of the Republic. Hazar Imam is in Lisbon at the invitation of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, to receive the 2013 North-South Prize.

Toronto, 29 May 2014 – At the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Mawlana Hazar Imam gave a keynote speech this morning at a summit on the global fight to improve maternal, newborn and child health in developing countries. The gathering, brought together world leaders to focus on reducing the preventable deaths of newborns, mothers and children under the age of five.

RAYS OF LIGHT: Glimpses into the Ismaili Imamat opened recently in Nairobi. First launched in 2008 in Paris, the exhibition – a Golden Jubilee International Programme – offers glimpses from the life of Mawlana Hazar Imam, the first fifty years of his Imamat and the immense scope and work of Aga Khan Development Network institutions around the world.

An event hosted at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai by the Aga Khan Museum and the Embassy of Canada to the United Arab Emirates offered a preview of what will be the first museum in North America dedicated to the Islamic arts and cultures. Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak al-Nahyan applauded the Museum’s goal to showcase diversity of Muslim societies and foster greater understanding amongst peoples of different backgrounds.
