Mawlana Hazar Imam awarded Municipal Honours in Toronto

The Key to the City of Toronto was awarded to Mawlana Hazar Imam at a special ceremony hosted today at the Ismaili Centre in Toronto, during which a segment of Wynford Drive was ceremonially named Aga Khan Boulevard.

Prince Amyn accepted the honours on behalf of Hazar Imam and thanked Mayor John Tory and the City of Toronto for the special gesture.

IIS appoints new Director

After having served for 34 years in leadership positions, including the past 12 years as Co-Director of The Institute of Ismaili Studies (“IIS”), Dr Farhad Daftary has decided to step down from his management roles in early January 2023. Dr Daftary will not be retiring from IIS, but will continue his scholarly research, writing and teaching activities at IIS indefinitely.

Featuring almost a decade’s worth of photos, Prince Hussain’s exhibition The Living Sea – Fragile Beauty finally arrived in the UK. Entering the social hall of the Ismaili Centre, London yesterday, visitors found themselves in a dazzling underwater world.

Ismaili Imamat donates $10 million to Pakistan flood relief efforts

Lisbon, Portugal, 4 September 2022 – The Ismaili Imamat has announced it will be donating US$10 million to support relief efforts following the severe flooding in Pakistan.  $5m will be donated directly to the Government of Pakistan while a further $5m will be provided to the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) agencies in the country, which are engaged in the relief efforts.
