Today AKDN welcomed visitors to its new website. The site, which has undergone a design revamp, now has its own domain name, and is accessible from a new URL: https://the.akdn.
“Many months of work have gone into today’s launch,” said Pareena Khairdin from the UK, one of a number of TKN volunteers who contributed to the project. “It began with an extensive research and focus-group exercise in 2020 to ensure the new platform would better serve the needs of its diverse user groups.”
Feedback was collected from hundreds of website users – including partner organisations, teachers, the youth, staff, volunteers and members of the Jamat. “We will continue making adjustments and improvements to the platform and welcome feedback and suggestions from our visitors,” said Alisha Ajani from India, a TKN volunteer who contributed to the new layout.
The website brings a fresh look with simplified navigation options and enhanced visuals. The design aims to be more user-friendly, and has been optimised for a variety of browsers and mobile devices.
The launch of the new website also introduces a new logo for the AKDN, approved by Mawlana Hazar Imam. The AKDN logo expresses interconnectivity. Polygons of three, five and seven form forty-nine different yet congruent units which interact with and reinforce each other to become one. They represent the Network as an interconnected programme encompassing social, cultural and economic dimensions to improve the quality of life of individuals and the societies in which they live.
“Everyone involved in the redesign hopes the new digital presence will better serve the needs of AKDN’s diverse audiences, and help to convey the breadth and scale of its activities,” said Adil Lalani, a TKN volunteer based in San Francisco, California.
The website’s content has been updated and will continue to be refreshed on an ongoing basis. It presents AKDN’s work in four separate yet connected thematic areas: Developing Human Capacity, Building Resilient Communities, Generating Economic Growth, and Honouring Cultural Heritage.
