Diamond Jubilee
Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Hyderabad earlier today, on the third stop of his Diamond Jubilee visit to India.
The Aga Khan Trust for Culture commenced conservation and landscaping works at Sunder Nursery in 2007. The area has since flourished into a park comprising of formal and informal gardens, water features, orchards, pavilions, bird habitats, and a sunken amphitheatre for cultural events and festivals. The Mughal-inspired central areas feature marble fountains and flowing water set amidst geometric flower beds, and raised pathways.
Mawlana Hazar Imam was received by Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mr Mohammed Mahmood Ali, as well as leaders of the Jamat upon his arrival in Hyderabad 26 February.
Earlier today, Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as part of his Diamond Jubilee visit to India. He was received by local government officials and leaders of the Jamat.
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, received Mawlana Hazar Imam at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Estate in Rajpath, New Delhi.
Indian Vice-President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu received Mawlana Hazar Imam at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on 21 February 2018 where he hosted a lunch in Hazar Imam’s honour. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the longstanding partnership between India and the Ismaili Imamat.
Mawlana Hazar Imam called upon Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 21 February as part of his 10-day Diamond Jubilee visit to India.
Earlier today, Mawlana Hazar Imam presided over the inauguration of Sunder Nursery in Delhi, together with Vice-President of India and guest of honour Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Sunder Nursery, a 90-acre city park situated in the heart of the nation’s capital, incorporates distinct heritage and ecological and botanical zones as part of a wider urban renewal initiative in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi.
Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in New Delhi earlier this evening for a historic 10-day Diamond Jubilee visit to India. He was received by Chief of Protocol Shri Sanjay Verma, Joint Secretary Shri Deepak Mittal, and Jamati leaders in India.
During his stay in India, Mawlana Hazar Imam is expected to meet a number of national and state government representatives, and is also scheduled to attend the inauguration of Sunder Nursery in Delhi on 21 February.
The Jamat in India is all set to welcome Mawlana Hazar Imam for a historic Diamond Jubilee visit to India to commence on 20 February 2018.
