It was part of Singapore’s one million trees movement, and saw more than 50 families planting various trees in the vicinity of Strathmore Road and Clarence Lane. The event was graced by Member of Parliament Joan Pereira and advisor for Dawson-Henderson.
“It is very inspiring to see so many of you here today, doing your part for Singapore’s tree-planting movement and contributing to sustainability,” she encouraged residents.
The morning saw families consisting of grandparents to toddlers doing their bit and coming together as one community. Representatives from Delta RC, Precious Active Aging Centre, Grace Assembly of God, Caring Hearts, and Masjid Jamek Queenstown were present.
“It was heartening to see civil society here to join this event,” said Delta Chairperson Dion Lee, when introducing the representatives, and thanking Ismaili CIVIC for its Together We Grow campaign contribution. More than 100 plants were distributed to residents as well as visitors to Masjid Jamek. This initiative is premised to encourage families to grow plants at home, and eventually propagate and pass their plants forward.
Volunteers from all regions of Singapore are invited to DM to volunteer for upcoming initiatives in 2023 – see you there!
