The White House Nursing Home is a small 30 bed independent nursing home that was established in the late 1980s by Salima’s father, the late Mr Badrudin Manji. It has evolved from a modest 4-bedroom detached nursing home conversion into an award-winning home with a focus on being an honest high-quality care provider and ensuring the continuation of a legacy.
Rahim and Salima became directors of The White House Nursing Home following the sudden demise of both her parents in May 2013 and as a small independent business, the last 12 months have been marked by some significant achievements for both of them commencing in March 2018 following the regulatory CQC inspection and achieving the almost-impossible “Outstanding” rating.
Following on from this, The White House Nursing Home was nominated for ‘Best SME (Small-Medium Enterprise) of the Year’ and ‘Business of The Year’ at the Kingston Business Excellence Awards and attained winners status in both categories. The judges comments were a further testament to the representation of #ismailiexcellence: “The White House Nursing Home provides the exemplar of what having a commitment to your community looks like. Not only great customer service, quality and passion in all that they do but importantly care”.
To cap off its run of achievements, The White House Nursing Home was announced as ‘Member of the Year 2018’ by the National Care Association, the independent governing body for care providers in the UK, for the exceptional service that residents receive by an experienced team who ensure that everyone is safe and living in a homely and friendly environment.
Since 2016 The White House Nursing Home has undergone a gruelling accreditation process to become a Gold Standard Framework care home, however, remaining firm in their focus on providing exceptional care has reaped this very humble “no bells and whistles” nursing home it's much deserved awards and recognition.
Speaking with Salima Nurmohamed about her flourishing business she said: “We would love the opportunity to celebrate these achievements with the UK Ismaili community; achievements which we are extremely proud of for many reasons. It is not only the legacy of our late parents that we have honoured, but also realising Our Imam's vision and aspirations for meritocracy in our respective fields and celebrating the fact that being small does not mean that you cannot compete and stand out amongst the big guns”.
