To commemorate Imamat Day 2020, Ismaili CIVIC donated over 230 meals to Ealing Soup Kitchen (ESK) in West London. The meals were prepared and distributed by volunteers, including members of our Ismaili CIVIC team Khadija Mohamed, Rozmin Madhani and Ali Mohamed.
Despite socially distancing, Rozmin prepared the delicious chicken curry and rice from afar, which was delivered to ESK for distribution in the week following Imamat Day.

The Kitchen is a beacon of hope for both the beneficiaries, but also those who help at the Kitchen.
Khadija a member of Darkhana’s IVC shared about her volunteering experience ‘I love coming to the Soup Kitchen to see all the volunteers - we‘ve all become the best of friends! It feels really wonderful to help people who need it. I feel this way not only during this time but all year long.'

Ismaili volunteers have been giving their time to the Soup Kitchen since December 2017 providing assistance every Monday for over two years. Since the Covid-19 outbreak in London, the team have been volunteering twice a week, not only cooking and serving a hot meal, but the team has also delivered groceries to those most vulnerable and in need of assistance in the local area. Ealing Soup Kitchen is a charity who helps anyone who requires hot, nutritious food and a helping hand. They have been running a Soup Kitchen since 1973 at St John’s Church in Ealing, West London. We are very pleased to be able to strengthen our ongoing relationship with Ealing Soup Kitchen, especially during this exceptional time.
