AKEPB have partnered with Create Your Own Future to bring the Jamat an innovative new online service to help those feeling the negative effects of the pandemic on their job prospects to bridge their skills gap and secure employment.
Create Your Own Future is backed by the Department of Education and the Trade Union Congress. It will take you on an easy, interactive journey to help assess your motivations, goals and aspirations. Users will be mentored through an action plan and encouraged to complete goals and training. Throughout the journey a computerised assistant is there to help answer any questions.
At the end of the journey, you will be presented with a review of your skill strengths and where you need to improve, a list of relevant job profiles and links to free online training to help fill your skills gap. Much of this training is accredited and leads to Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications (GCSE & A level equivalent). The free training and mentoring is available until the end of June, so the Jamat is encouraged to start the journey as soon as possible to complete the training on time.
This interactive job skills journey can be used by all, including those less familiar with digital tools as well as those with learning difficulties and disabilities. You do not need to be a member of a union to use this service.
