Have you ever thought about being a genius at Excel? To know how to analyse and interpret data, variables and conditions? The area of Statistics is exactly the area that allows you to collect, analyse, interpret and make known data and information. This is how the webiste Coursera launched the Basic Statistics course, with the aim of helping you to work these skills.
In this way, the first part of the course covers the area of Descriptive Statistics. In this part you will learn what data, cases and variables are and how to calculate measures of central tendency (mean, median and fashion) and measures of dispersion (standard deviation and variance). It also follows how to evaluate the relationships between variables and the presentation of correlation and regression concepts.
The second part of the course is directed at Probabilities: calculating probabilities, probability distribution and sample distribution, since it is necessary to know such concepts to understand how Inferential Statistics work.
Finally, the third part consists of exactly the introduction to Inferential Statistics methods - methods that help us decide whether the patterns we see in our data are strong enough to draw conclusions about the underlying sample we are interested in.
In short, you will not only learn the statistical concepts, but also how to calculate and generate these statistics using the statistical software available free of charge.
Take advantage of this course offered by the University of Amsterdam, a modern university with a rich history, established in 1632 and now with more than 30,000 students. This course is conducted by Dr. Matthijs Rooduijn, member of the Political Science Department.
In fact, the results of this course are remarkable: more than 30% of people have achieved a significant benefit in their career with this course and more than 40% have started a new career after it.
Curious? Why not try and develop new skills?
