Mawlana Hazar Imam has long expressed the will to create an environment within the community that truly cherishes, promotes and celebrates art and culture, as they are fundamental vehicles for understanding and accepting our diversity and, also, in celebrating the pluralism that is an integral part of our DNA as a strong and cohesive community.
And that's how Jubilee Arts was created, to respond to this desire of our Imam, creating a space that cultivates, develops and promotes the different cultural traditions of the Jamat and gives opportunities to all Ismaili artists to share their art, crossing different cultures and countries.
But the celebration starts long before we get to the big Global Encounters Festival: it starts “at home”!
Portugal Arts Festival calls out ALL artists!
There are lots of categories you can participate in, and there is no age limit. Everyone, without exception, can and should participate.
Coordinated with Jubilee Arts, the theme for this year is: “CARE”.
Caring for the planet, caring for humanity, caring for our heritage, caring for our communities, caring for the family, caring for us.
Express the way you CARE through your art!
There are 3 major categories in which you can participate. Within these categories, you have a myriad of sub-categories within which you can choose to submit your work:
- Art Gallery (Works on canvas, paper, printing, photography, graphic design and digital art, art in Artificial Intelligence, sculpture and 3D, mixed media, installation, fashion and textile)
- Cinema (reels, shorts and immersive)
- Performing arts (vocal/singing music, instrumental music, dance, creative arts (magic, poetry, storytelling...)
When and how will this process take place?
We officially launch the campaign for the Global Encounters Festival on July 8, 2023. We will have a website where you can consult all the information namely with the criteria for each category, among other information.
And we will be at the Lisbon Congress Centre, during the Imamat Day celebrations, where we will have all the information available for consultation.
From that moment on, you have until the 3rd of September to let us know if you're going to participate. You have close to two months – between the 8th of July and the 3rd of September – to think, plan and create your piece of art.
You must tell us by the 3rd of September if you are going to participate, and by the 10th of September to send your submission (either video, photo, screen or other format within the categories mentioned above).
