Since 2000, MONSTRA | Lisbon Animation Festival's main goal is to celebrate artistic transversality, promote the meeting between people of different arts and convey new aesthetic perspectives, using as basis the most multidisciplinary language we know: Animation Cinema. It is a festival that exists for more than 20 years, with participation in more than 151 cities around the world, taking the best of what is made in Portugal, and in the world, regarding animation cinema.
Since its inception, the festival has gone through several metamorphoses and, currently, it starts in Lisbon with a vast program, between the 16th and 27th of March, but then goes on a tour of the country, taking animated cinema to many Portuguese cities,
enchanting children, youth and adults in the same way.
The main program takes place at cinema São Jorge, in Lisbon, but you can find several special sessions in other cultural spaces in the city.
