Millions were benefited as the Shia Ismaili Muslim community celebrated the second annual Global Ismaili CIVIC Day on the 25th of September across the globe. This effort was made up of Local Partnerships connected to global efforts to strengthen communities through environmental stewardship.

The Global Ismaili CIVIC Day is an annual Ismaili CIVIC signature event. It is a global program under which the Shia Ismaili Muslim community across the world has united around its centuries-old tradition of serving humanity by rendering voluntary service to improve the quality of life of the communities in which they live, regardless of faith, gender and background.  This international endeavor reflects the community’s ethic of civic engagement and good citizenship.

Since 2020, Ismaili CIVIC activities in more than 30 countries across the globe have benefited millions of people with over 1.3 million trees planted, more than 30,000 volunteers involved, over 125,000 hours of voluntary service conducted, more than 150 partners engaged, and more than 600 activities held.

In Angola the event took place on Sunday at the Al – Nur Social and Educational Center in Viana. 170 participants marked their presence in this initiative. We held a donation drive for health and hygiene products, medicines, food and clothes. We were able to donate 1500 kilograms of food, 300 kilograms of medical equipment and a health screening for all the 70 children at the center. Volunteers served lunch to the children and the children benefited from a health screening by our partners Club Dos Medicos.

Global Ismaili CIVIC Day was celebrated across dozens of countries around the world in every continent. Volunteers from the Community and its partners have pledged hundreds of thousands of hours to improve the quality of life of the communities in which they live, exemplifying universal values of service, peace and compassion.
