Ya Ali Madad,
We’re back this December with yet another Newsletter where we plan to share interesting concepts from our Tariqah as well as discuss current affairs relevant to the Angola Jamat.
We begin this issue by covering one of the year’s main Ismaili celebrations, we’re speaking of course of Salgirah. The article we present goes over the history of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Imamat and his life of service to the Jamat. If you want to explore how murids find a spiritual connection with their murshid during this celebration, we highly recommend you check out the video link included in the second article. It does a great job explaining why we Ismailis celebrate our Imam’s Birthday. Salgirah Mubarak everyone!
Then for some local Ismaili news, check out what the Ismaili CIVIC initiative has been up to at the Areia Branca Beach in Luanda. We follow it up with the coverage of a fun cooking demonstration organized by the Women’s Activities Portfolio; they’ve been busy, also organizing a Tasbih beading class for children, a wonderful lunch and – why not? – a spot of dancing including rasra, garba, macarena and something called the “Jerusalema Challenge”. Check it out, this section is full of photos too.
Still on local news, if you’re a parent (or a grandparent) of a young child you will definitely want to check out the article covering the Early Childhood Development (ECD) joint initiative between the St. Andrew’s School of English and our Education Board and Women’s Activities Portfolio. This article explores the importance of ECD, the latest research on this subject linking it to the event that was held for our mothers and young children. If you know the emphasis Mawlana Hazar Imam has been putting over the years into the importance of ECD, you know this is a subject you need to be on top of.
Finally we wrap it up with a number of short courses the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London is offering; you might be interested in attending some of them. We include the dates they’re held as well as application deadlines to make your planning easier.
That’s it from your Communications team for this December. We hope you enjoy this issue and we’ll talk to you again in 2023.
