The Ismaili Council for Ishkoman Puniyal launched their Diamond Jubilee preparations with an inspirational Cleanliness Initiative, a unique event that saw a thousand members of the Jamat come together to clean and beautify their valley, demonstrating civic responsibilty and mindfulness of the environment.

The Ishkoman Puniyal Jamat began their Diamond Jubilee celebrations in a unique manner providing inspiration for civic responsibility and healthy engagement with the environment during Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.The Ismaili Council for Ishkoman Puniyal arranged a Cleanliness Week to clean the region from July 1-7, 2017 as an extension to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The activity aimed to provide a role model for responsible citizens and to create mindfulness about the environment. Participants from seven local councils of Ishkoman Puniyal were encouraged to clean homes, streets, and roads of the valley.  Around a thousand participants were involved in this week-long activity, which included male and female volunteers, boy scouts, girl guides, and other Jamati members. Their passion contributed to the Jamat’s positive image in the region.

The cleanliness week was handled with due consideration to cultural sensitivity. The gents volunteers and boy scouts cleaned the main roads and link roads, whereas the responsibility of the streets was given to the girl guides. Special efforts were made to clean the narrow footpaths reaching remote corners of the valley. Participants from the picturesque valley of the Ismaili Council for Sherqilla created awareness by displaying different banners with slogans about the importance of cleanliness. The leaders of the Jamat actively participated in the event. Ismaili Council for Gahkuch also organised a walk in collaboration with the district government. Heads of all departments, Abid Hussain, President, Ismaili Council for Gahkuch, officials of Ghizer Arts and Culture, Al-Nisar Scouts, Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jamaat, Ghizer, Ismaili boy scouts, and other people from Ismaili and sister communities participated in the walk. The District Commissioner of Ghizer addressed the gathering, appreciating the launch of this unique cleanliness initiative.
