Launch of the Ismaili Health Professionals Association, Pakistan

The Aga Khan Health Board for Pakistan (AKHBP) aims to bring together Ismaili health care professionals from across Pakistan to form the Ismaili Health Professionals Association, Pakistan (IHPAP). It will be formally launched on April 20th, 2018, at the Triple C Conference - “Connecting Community to Consultation” organized by AKHBP in collaboration with Aga Khan University and Aga Khan Health Services.  

The one-day conference will be held at the Aga Khan University, Karachi and will be broadcast live through a digital platform connecting participants from Islamabad, Gilgit and Chitral. Besides launching IHPAP, the conference will deliberate on the current health challenges faced by the community and assist in devising future strategies. A key focus will be on innovation in technology and its impact on improving access to quality healthcare. Discussions will be led by prominent international and national health professionals.

 

Ismaili Health Professional Association Pakistan (IHPAP)

The Association under the aegis of AKHBP will comprise of professionals in various fields of health care including: doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, psychologists, nutritionists, pharmacists and allied health professionals. Membership to IHPAP will be offered to healthcare professionals with adequate academic qualification and a valid professional license or registration in a professional entity.

 

The key objectives of IHPAP are to:

  • Provide an inclusive space for community members and health care professionals to devise strategies for collectively serving the Jamat.
  • Build upon the varied specialties and experiences of its members to enhance educational and professional development through networking opportunities for health professionals of the Jamat. Act as a vehicle for complimenting the mandate of AKHBP, especially in creating awareness about health care amongst the Jamat and improving their access to quality health care.
  • Support the creation of linkages for the Jamat in remote and underprivileged areas to health care through the use of technology
  • Supplement the efforts of other institutions in health related response and mitigation

 

IHPAP is a Diamond Jubilee initiative that also provides an opportunity for Ismaili health care professionals to realize their TKN Nazrana and serve the community.
