On 14 August 2018, leaders of Jamati institutions, girl guides, boy scouts and members volunteers corps came together in an iconic plantation campaign to commemorate the 71st independence day of Pakistan. More than 1000 pariticpants planted 1600 indigenous plants at different locations in Pakistan. 

Speaking about the program, Amin Lakhani, President, Ismaili Council for Southern Region said, “I am very glad that the Aga Khan Youth & Sports Board for the Southern region has taken this planting initiative on the occasion of Independence Day. I hope that this drive, which was led by the scouts and guides of the region, will lead to greater awareness about being environmentally-friendly. Moreover, it will encourage the Jamat to inculcate the habit of playing an active role in improving the environment.”

Elsewhere, the Ismaili District Boy Scouts Association Gilgit organised a parade in Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day . Scout Waqar Bin Zafar was the Parade Commander at the parade at Chinar Bagh. Around 40 scouts participated in the spectacle.

Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman, Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan was the chief guest at the occasion. Major-General Saqib Mehmood, Force Commander Northern Areas, Major General, Chief Secretary, Mr. Babar Hayat Tarar, Department Secretaries, Gilgit-Baltistan Speaker, Ministers and Members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly were also present at the occasion.
