Safety and Security

The safety and security of Mawlana Hazar Imam and the Jamat is of utmost importance. To achieve this, the cooperation and support of the Jamat is essential and therefore we request the Jamat to observe the following:

  1. Always bring your Mulaqat card(s) with you and wear it at all times.
  2. Keep the number of items you bring with you to a minimum.
  3. Leave your mobile phone and other electronic items at home or in your hotel safe; or (at ExCeL ONLY) please make arrangements to book a locker in advance.
  4. If you have medical conditions, please carry the appropriate medication with you for the day; and it is advisable to complete a ‘Health Passport’, available from the.ismaili/ukmulaqat.

Arrival Time

At ExCeL, you should allow time to clear security screening and arrive in good time to participate in the Intezaar programme which commences at 2.30pm. However, please do not arrive earlier than the scheduled opening time of 10am.  If you arrive earlier than 10am, you will not be permitted entry, unless you have pre-authorised access.

At the Ismaili Centre, you should arrive at your allocated time only.  There is very limited space at the Ismaili Centre and only a very limited waiting area.

Entry Identification

Anyone intending to access the Mulaqat venues will require security clearance to do so.  All Jamati members, non-Ismaili family members and carers entering Mulaqat venues require a valid  UK Mulaqat cards. These will be verified on arrival and as required, at other points during the day.  Access will not be granted to Mulaqat venues without a valid Mulaqat card.

Entry to the Ismaili Centre requires both a UK Mulaqat Card and a specific Ismaili Centre Ceremony Pass.

Both the UK Mulaqat Pass and the Ismaili Centre Ceremony Pass are specific to the registered UK jurisdiction Jamati member and are non-transferable.

Security Screening

Consistent with global practice, Jamati members will be required to undergo security screening prior to entering the Mulaqat space at both ExCeL and the Ismaili Centre. This is for the safety and security of all those involved in the UK Mulaqat. Please note that all bags will be checked for prohibited items.

At the Ismaili Centre in particular, in order to complete the screening process in good time we encourage keeping any handbags to a minimum size. Only very limited facilities will be available to leave coats at the Natural History Museum garden area (Exhibition Road Entrance); and items are left at your own risk. Therefore we strongly recommend that you only bring items that are necessary. Luggage and large items cannot be stored.

Electronic Devices & Prohibited Items

In order to preserve the sanctity of the Mulaqat spaces, all electronic devices including but not limited to mobile phones, smart watches, fitness trackers, audio/visual recording devices and laptops/tablets will not be permitted in the Ismaili Centre or at ExCel in the Mulaqat space. It is strongly recommended that all electronic devices should be left at home.

Specifically for ExCeL only, mobile phone lockers for families to share are available through advance booking at a cost of £10.

Any items deemed to be inappropriate or unsafe may be refused for entry at the discretion of the safety and security team.

These measures are designed to maintain the safety and security of Mawlana Hazar Imam and the Jamat; and to protect and preserve the sanctity of the spaces in which we intend to welcome our beloved Imam. We kindly request the Jamat’s assistance and cooperation with the volunteers in this matter.
