World Speech Day takes place annually celebrating "speeches and speech making through live speaking events across the world". Everyone has a story to tell, and World Speech Day is about maximizing each person's potential through the sharing of unique experiences.

The Aga Khan Council for Bangladesh, like every year, this year also, celebrated the World Speech Day on April 28, 2018 at the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center, in Bashundhara. Audience attending the event, consisted of the civil society, professionals, students and teachers from leading schools, people from the media and Members of the Aga Khan National Council and other Institutions. On behalf of the Aga Khan Council, Bangladesh, its President, Mr. Sulaiman Ajanee, welcomed all the invited Speakers and guests to the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre and mentioned in his opening remarks that this year the World Speech Day was celebrated in over 90 countries.

The keynote speaker was the renowned Editor Mr. Zafar Shobhan of Dhaka Tribune. Among other speakers were, Ms. Ambreen Basheer, Teacher from the American School, Dhaka (AISD), Dhruba Jyoti Paul, Student of AISD and Ms Aliza Jessani from the Aga Khan School, Dhaka. The session was an endeavor to share with the audience the importance and power of words, through speeches. Between interactive speeches and informative videos, the program was followed by lunch and a guided tour of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre.
