This year's camporal, Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Pakistan's (AKYSBP) annual jamboree for Scouts and Guides was held in the picturesque surroundings of Gojal. 330 participants from seven local councils took part as scouts and guides took advantage of this opportunity to work on self-development and various skills through different scouting and recreational group activities. AKYSB facilitators worked to help these young people gain a sense of pluralism and diversity and to create harmony among them to work towards common goals.
After introductions and patrol distribution, the jamboree began with basic scouting activities such as tent pitching and gadget making. The evening featured motivational sessions and group competitions. Different leadership sessions were held on the second day, followed by the Global Culture Night where campers entertained locals with cultural shows.
At the closing ceremony on the third day, Sharif Khan, the President, Ismaili Council for Hunza, addressed the boy scouts and girl guides, saying that he appreciated the teams and the efforts of the programme to inculcate the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood in the youth. The President and Honorary Secretary of the Ismaili Council for Gojal Bala and local YSB Chairpersons distributed certificates and prizes and offered a vote of thanks to all the parties that led to the successful completion of the programme. While the programme was led by AKYSB, it could not have been carried out without the support and cooperation of the Ismaili Council for Gojal Bala, the ladies and gents volunteer corps, the local Jamati leadership and the Gojal Bala Jamat.
