2023 Participant Application Questions

Below are the 2023 Participant Application essay prompts:

  • Reflect on a time that you were challenged, inspired, or took a risk—inside or outside of the classroom. How has that experience shaped you, and what questions still linger?
  • At Global Encounters, participants live and serve together for almost a month.   Some of the most important experiences happen when you live and learn from people that are different than you. Please describe an experience where you learned or grew from interacting with someone whose background, identity, or perspective differed from yours.
  • Leaders mobilise and support groups to work towards progress. Describe an instance where you demonstrated leadership in a group (informally or formally). How did you help your family, school, or community move towards a goal
  • Please tell us about a social, community, or humanitarian issue, cause, or concern - large or small - that you care deeply about.  How are you engaged with or helping to address this issue?

Applicants should be ready to share their extra-curricular activities and an image that represents who they are.
