The Education Committee Awards Night held on Monday, 25th March 2024, was an event dedicated to honouring excellence in academic performance. The event was brimming with enthusiasm and inspirations shared by various guests, students, parents and members of the community.
Ms. Adiba Ajanee, Chairperson of the Education Committee of the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh, commenced the evening with her opening remarks. Sharing about the goals of the Education Committee, she highlighted the recent REACH academic survey and introduced plans for a supplemental Mathematics class for students of the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Students were awarded in three categories: Performance Awards for students in Grade 1/PYP 1 up to Grade 12/DP 2, Excellence Awards for school and university students, and the President's Award for students in Grade 7/MYP2 and above. There were 5 recipients in the Performance Category, 7 in the Excellence for school category and 7 in the Excellence for University category.
The awards were presented by the Vice President of the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh, Ms. Salimah Kassam, Mukhisaheb of Ismaili Jamat Khana and Centre, Dhaka Mr. Barkat Patel, and the President of the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh, Mr. Madad Ali Virani. President Madad concluded the distribution of the awards by awarding Rida Hussein jiwani the Presidents' Award for her outstanding academic results in her IGCSE exams, extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, and glowing recommendation from her teacher.
Following the Award for Performance, the stage was taken over by development practitioner, teacher, actor, and social media influencer, Sakib Bin Rashid. Rashid, in his gripping speech, inspired the audience with stories of resilience and passion, motivating the young minds to take charge of their dreams.
Subsequently, the atmosphere filled with anticipation as Mr. Madad Ali Virani, President of the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh, stood to present the 'Presidents Award.' Celebrating overall excellence and saluting the spirit of achievement, this award marks the pinnacle of recognition at the event. The award was granted to Rida Hussein Jiwani the Presidents' Award for her outstanding academic results in her IGCSE exams, extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, and glowing recommendation from her teacher. President Madad concluded the Awards segment with a speech acknowledging all the students' hard work and encouraging the parents to continue to work with their children to take them towards academic excellence.
Wrapping up an empowering evening, the audience was treated to 20 minutes of a thrilling performance by 'Magic Man' Galib. His stunning magic show left everyone in awe, marking a spectacular end to a night dedicated to celebrating education, leadership, and above all, the potential and excellence of young minds.
