AKDN’s Department of Communications is looking for a Junior Writer to help craft compelling stories, features, profiles, and news reports for our digital platforms.
The Ismaili is the official digital platform of the Ismaili Muslim community. As the “go-to” place for all things digital, we currently distribute our communications products via a website, several social media channels, mobile app, streaming tv channel, podcast platform, and music label.
The AKDN channels share the activities and initiatives undertaken by AKDN’s agencies, which span across education, healthcare, culture, environment, economic development, and more. AKDN is a global network dedicated to improving quality of life and promoting pluralism in some of the most challenging environments worldwide.
We believe in the profound impact of storytelling. Through our diverse content streams, we strive to inform and create positive change in the lives of our audiences worldwide. Now, we are looking for a talented individual to join our team on a full-time basis and contribute their creative prowess to our mission.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Content creation: Produce engaging written content for various platforms including websites, social media, newsletters, and reports.
- Research: Dive deep into Jamati and AKDN projects and initiatives, uncovering stories that showcase the impact of our work around the world.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our communications team and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and authenticity in your writing.
- Storytelling: Use your creativity and empathy to tell stories that resonate with diverse audiences, promoting understanding and empathy.
We're seeking a keen and talented individual who possesses:
- Excellent writing skills: Demonstrated proficiency in crafting clear, concise, and compelling narrative.
- Passion for impact: A genuine interest in community development and a desire to contribute to positive change.
- Team Spirit: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
- Curiosity and adaptability: Willingness to learn about complex topics and adapt your writing style to diverse audiences and platforms.
- Competence and experience: A University degree, preferably in a humanities or social sciences discipline, excellent English language fluency, and experience in digital content creation and/or editing.
